Investigating Buildings in our Local Area in Year 6
As part of our Geography Week learning, Year 6 went on a walk around the local area. Our aim was to explore and categorise how buildings are used around Hither Green and, to do so, we set out with maps and pencils and marked the different types of building we saw. We came across a variety of buildings - stations, shops, cafes, mechanics, nurseries, pharmacies and, of course, our school. and categorised them into public, commercial and private use. We then came back to school and looked at the Ordinance survey symbols we could include on our maps. The children had a fantastic time exploring the local area and lots of geographical conversation.
