Brighton Beach was a blast!
On
Friday, Year 1 had a very special adventure - a day at Brighton Beach!
The
excitement started as soon as we boarded the train. The children loved spotting
landmarks out the window and kept busy working on their activity books during
the journey. On arrival, everyone was thrilled to see the sparkling sea appear
on the horizon. For many of the children, it was their first time ever visiting
the seaside, which made it even more special.
While
walking to the beach, we to a stop on the famous “Donut pier” and noted the different
features of the beach. After that, we set up our spot on the beach and sat for
lunch. Luckily, we read The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch in our literacy
lessons, so everyone was prepared for when the cheeky seagulls came swooping in
to try and steal our food—though not everyone managed to keep their lunch safe!
After
lunch, Mr Delemere kindly arranged for a lifeguard to come and talk to us about
how to stay safe at the beach. The children listened brilliantly and asked lots
of great questions.
Then
it was time for the highlight of the day: dipping our toes in the sea! Almost
everyone had a go, and there were plenty of surprised squeals when they felt
how chilly the water was!
To finish off our seaside adventure, we enjoyed delicious ice creams in the sunshine. Thanks to the teamwork of Ms Griffiths, Mr Delemere, and the kindest ice cream seller on Brighton Beach, every child had a treat to end the day perfectly.

The
children were full of smiles and stories on the journey home. It was truly a
wonderful day that we’ll all remember for a long time. A big thank you to all the parents and helpers we had for the day, we couldn't have done it without you!
